Games based on films are almost always the bottom. Right now, you’re unlikely to remember a decent video game based on any cinematic creation. Such projects were usually released on the eve of the film’s release, and even if the film turned out to be good, the game based on it could not boast of such quality. Of the exceptions, I can remember a wonderful toy based on “Madagascar”, it turned out to be really exciting, surprisingly. But an exception remains an exception; fundamentally it is still the bottom. But in this text I would like to fantasize a little, there will be five films, TV series and anime, from which, in theory, good games can come out, but I am far from a developer or screenwriter, but just an ordinary player, which is why my thoughts will be very philistine. Oh, and of course it’s worth noting that perhaps similar video games already exist, but they are clearly not very popular. And coincidences, if anything, should not happen. There are so many beeches, we’re finally starting, enjoy reading!

Gravity Falls

Well, let’s start with something that will definitely never come out, namely a game based on Gravity Falls. Among the genres, a quest would be perfect, which is currently in a dead state. But wandering around this mysterious city, solving various puzzles, would be at least interesting. The problem is that this series was released in 2012, and by that time the era of such quests was already dying. As they say, the stars just didn’t align, but what does that mean: this beautiful universe is now destined to remain forever on sites with strange web games? Well, if there is no enthusiast who will make this project, then yes, but now the era of indie games has come, because AAA now does not have the same authority. But this is a topic for another article, although many have already talked about this. In the meantime, let’s hope that one day there will be a Gravity Falls fan with programming skills.

Orange

For those who have not heard about such anime as “Orange”. The plot of the series tells us the story of young Naho Takamiya, who one day receives a letter from herself from the future. From there she learns that soon a guy will come to her school, whom she must save from death. There are spoilers ahead, but from the synopsis it is clear that this anime, it seems to me, could make an excellent visual novel, something in the style of “Leviathan – The Last Day of the Decade” or the visually closer “Endless Summer”. Yes, "Orange" is a pretty obvious choice for a video game adaptation, but still think about how interesting it would be to influence this story with your choices. There are already registered characters, a cool atmosphere too, you just need to correctly transfer them into video game form. Well, not “only”, this is not the simplest thing, but still the initial material is already available.

13 reasons why

I think more people have already heard about this series, but still, in my opinion, the synopsis is worth describing. So, in the project we are told the story of a young girl named Hannah Baker. The schoolgirl decided to take her own life (I condemn it, of course), but before that she recorded thirteen tapes that set out the reasons for this terrible act. It seems to me that this could make a great interactive movie. Yes, we can say that almost any film or series can make a good game in this genre, but, in my opinion, this series is most suitable for a game adaptation. You can make it so that the events unfold in two timelines, where in the past Hannah is under the player’s control, and in the present time we play as Clay (the guy who, according to the plot of the series, listens to all these tapes). And the outcome of the game may depend on the player’s choices. Well, the main event may remain, but the details regarding the heroes may well change. Overall, I would play this.

Get the knives

Let’s move smoothly from TV series to films. The detective genre in cinema is not very much in demand these days, but worthy works come out from time to time. So, in 2019, the film “Knives Out” was born, which turned out to be a classic detective story, where the viewer also needs to think. The film tells the story of Harlan Thrombey, an 85-year-old crime novelist who is found lifeless one morning. At first glance it seems that this is a classic suicide, but it’s not so simple. Private detective Benoit Blanc receives an order to investigate this case. When interviewing relatives of the deceased, one can understand that their stories are quite embellished. Plus, here our detective comes across a nurse who literally physically cannot stand lies. After this synopsis from Kinopoisk, I hope you understand my interest in the appearance of such a game. In the video game industry, the detective direction is also not the most popular; from the latter, you can recall the recent project about a legendary detective named Sherlock Holmes. In principle, it is possible to implement “Knives Out” in the form of a game in a similar way, of course, adjusting it to the setting and atmosphere of the film. What, in fact, is the main problem: remember, I said that quests are now in the kingdom of the dead? So, people nowadays don’t really want to think a lot when playing a project, which, unfortunately, is logical. That is why making a game in this genre is not very interesting, not even that, not very profitable. Based on this, we can come to the conclusion that such a toy will most likely never exist. Sadly (

Adrenalin

Do you remember this movie?? But it https://bingositesnotongamstop.co.uk/mobile-bingo-sites/ was just a very cool movie with a cool story, and what is most important in the context of this article, “Adrenaline” had really adrenaline action, which would be interesting to implement in a game. Interestingly, such a project could even exist, because the movie came out at a time when licensed video games were, in principle, popular. Let’s imagine that we live in an ideal world, where games based on films are mostly interesting. Perhaps such a toy even exists, but I just couldn’t find the information. So, in addition to the action, Adrenaline also features the wildly charismatic main character Chev Chelios, played by the man who forbids everything – Jason Statham. In principle, from these initial data it was possible to put together a quick adventure for about five hours, where the action would be as fast as possible and the player would not have time to get bored. But 16 years have passed since 2006, we will never be able to see a game like this and it’s sad.

These were my five fantasies, I think the topic is not bad, so you can present your options in the comments. Thanks for reading, peace to all!

Why? "Knives Out" is absolutely beautiful and self-contained in the form in which it exists now. When turned into a quest, it will lose in dynamics, and in timing, and in general in everything, because 80% of the film is a cool acting. Will they be “gamified”?? Well, in the mystical, ideal and completely fantastic – yes. In real life – well, that’s not a fact at all. Same thing with Gravity Falls.

Is that Adrenaline could really be made into an action-packed action game without any brakes, but we already have various kinds of exercises in this genre, and what this particular product could say that is so new and important is not entirely clear.

Anyway, let games be games and movies be movies. Film adaptations, game adaptations, novelizations, comic adaptations and other cross-media runs, spin-offs and everything else are primarily important and needed when they can bring something important to the original source. The most banal thing is that the film adaptation of “The Lord of the Rings” not only told the story of the book, but spent a huge amount of time and effort on building a visual sequence, showing on the screen a reliable, breathing world, from huge monumental fortified cities to the smallest plaques, pendants and other jewelry worn by elves, people and dwarves.

There is no need to try to turn a gaming experience into a cinematic one or a cinematic one into a gaming one, if one does not enrich the other in some way.

Well, it’s all purely fantasy. For most cartoons and films you can do something. Gravity Falls would make a great platformer.

According to Adrenaline, yes, a cool action game could come out where the main character constantly has to move.

I didn’t watch anything else.

Thanks to the author. I was thinking about what movie to watch before bed. Just finished Knives Out))

Point & Click Adventure would fit well into the style of Gravity Falls :3
